FYI: Coverages + Terms

Surround’s driving insurance, also called non owner auto insurance, protects you and your passengers when you're in a collision.

Bodily Injury Liability

If you, the driver and policy holder, cause harm to someone else. You are covered when driving someone else’s car with their permission for personal use.

Property Damage Liability

When you’re driving, this pays for damage you may cause to someone else’s property. This can mean damage to someone else’s car, but it also includes damage to other structures such as signs, fences, or buildings.

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorists

One out of every eight drivers does not carry auto coverage; in some states, that number is one out of five. Also known as Uninsured Motorist insurance, this will pay your and your passengers’ medical bills if you’re involved in a collision with an uninsured motorist who is at fault.

In other instances, an at-fault driver may have liability insurance, but his or her policy’s limits do not cover the full extent of your injuries. In such cases, Underinsured insurance will cover the difference up to a certain amount.

Personal Injury Protection

PIP covers medical expenses for you and your passengers if you are hurt in a crash. PIP will also pay for lost wages and essential services, like child care or help grocery shopping if you're unable to complete these tasks yourself while you are recovering.

Medical Payments

Medical payments pays for medical expenses for you and your passengers if you are injured in a crash. This can include medical co-pays and deductibles your health insurance doesn't pay for.

Personal Use

Driving or renting a vehicle for personal errands, activities, etc. Not for a business, freelance/contract job, or for a ride sharing service such as Uber or Lyft.
